Assistant Principal, Athletics & Activities

Mr. Brian Fleming has dedicated more than 33 years to education, all within the Tempe Union High School District. Before joining Marcos de Niza, he served as the Athletic Director at Corona del Sol High School. He also brings 20 years of experience as a head varsity basketball coach, having led programs at Tempe High School, McClintock High School, and Mountain Pointe High School.

 

Mr. Fleming earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Arizona State University and two master's degrees from Northern Arizona University—one in Curriculum and Instruction and the other in Educational Leadership.

 

Throughout his career, Mr. Fleming has been proud to spend his entire educational journey with Tempe Union. During that time, he has been part of six state championship teams in basketball, football, and baseball.

 

His administrative career began at Marcos de Niza, where he served as the Activities Assistant Principal from 2014 to 2017. In that role, he supported student clubs, fine arts students and teachers, and helped establish the Marcos de Niza Fine Arts Academy. In July 2017, he became the Athletics Assistant Principal at Marcos de Niza before moving to Corona del Sol in 2021 to serve as Athletic Director. In 2025, he returned to Marcos de Niza, where he now serves as the Athletics and Activities Assistant Principal.
